LX Pantos has flown 11.2 million fresh eggs to South Korea from the US and Thailand since mid-June, deploying 10 chartered freighters to help ease domestic supply disruptions.
The shipments weighed a combined 800 metric tons. In the latest operation, two Boeing 747 cargo planes departed Los Angeles International Airport, with unloading and delivery completed at Incheon Airport on Friday.
The flights are part of government measures to stabilize egg supplies disrupted by avian influenza and other factors. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has expanded imports and domestic distribution through the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.
Moving millions of fragile, perishable eggs by air required careful handling at every stage. To shorten transit times and maintain freshness, LX Pantos coordinated with producers and airlines in real time across the US and Thailand.
The logistics company kept the cargo within required temperature ranges throughout the journey and used specialized packaging and loading methods to reduce breakage.
LX Pantos holds CEIV Fresh, the International Air Transport Association’s quality certification for transporting perishable goods by air. It also holds CEIV Pharma certification for pharmaceutical shipments.
The company said it was preparing to transport additional imports under the government’s egg supply stabilization program.
“We will continue to draw on our experience in perishables and other specialized cargo to respond proactively to the needs of customers and the market,” an LX Pantos official said.
